MEGA RARE ORIGINAL JOHNNY ALF - RAPAZ DE BEM (1961)

 

This is Johnny Alf – “Rapaz de Bem” (1961), for RCA Victor, Johnny Alf debut LP. Johnny Alf was an active musician since the early 50's and could only make this first LP in 1961

 

A bossa-era classic from Johnny Alf -- sung in that wonderfully raspy vocal style that really set him apart from some of his contemporaries! There's a strong undercurrent of feeling here, even though the music itself still has the gentle grooves of the bossa style -- almost a samba-informed approach to singing that makes Alf's self-penned lyrics come across with an even stronger sense of feeling. Arrangements are by Nelsinho, and Alf also plays a bit of piano on the set -- and the whole thing often has a spacious, almost echoey quality that pushes the sound of the music even more.
