Shellac, 10 in., 78 RPM. First pressing variant (note below)

?Comments: Wow. My first word reaction, listening through:
?"Rip-roaring!"
?Sounds so, so good; both sides with minimal background noise or nonsense,
?but if I had to judge, side B with just a tad more hiss.

?NOTE: the long scuff or scratch shown in a photo on side B
?does not affect (to my hearing, anyway) the music.
?
"18" hand-tooled on labels, twice each side.

??The Variant Business+:
?It's no wonder this is kind of a special record! Livery Stable Blues was recorded in 1916 at Victor's New York studios and became the first jazz record ever issued on February 26, 1917.

(E-) Very few blemishes, light scuffs or scratches...still with some shine going on and sounds really great
for age. Typical hiss may be present, but low-key and unobtrusive. A swell+ find!  
(VG+ ) Sounds really great but is less shiny, more blemishes, more scuffs but no skips or noteworthy pops.
Typical hiss but no audible scratches or overwhelming surface noises or nonsense. A swell+ find!  
(VG) Evenly worn, still may be shiny (see pics) playable and obviously more used than we'd prefer, but a good listening experience. Some acceptable scratches,scuffs, blemishes may be present-as is background noise-but not intrusive.
No skips. A swell find!

(VG-) Playable, background noises and scratches are a bit more prounouced, but the music is still at forefront.
Scratches and scuffs, blemishes possibly present. No skips. A swell find!

(G ) Heavy scratches and possibly distortion, more signs of age and use. I won't be offering records in this category unless I come across something really special.
