Description
Turned down by Sam Philips because they sounded too much like Elvis .. Johnny Burnette : Brother Dorsey & Paul Burlison eventually signed with Coral Records & pitched up at The Pythian Temple NY for their first session in May 1956 . In a decision that would define the future of rockabilly the 32 piece orchestra that had been booked were shown a red card & the treble on Paul’s guitar amp turned up to eleven .. the ‘A ‘ side of this their first release ‘ Tear it Up ‘ was one of the the results . With a back history like that coupled with the poor initial reception from the buying public .. genuine original copies are hard to find . So much so there are more bootleg copies around than you could shake a drum stick at . This however is the real deal as the provenance & essential machine stamped matrix numbers confirm . Discogs are good on this & I will be delighted to answer any specific questions from interested bidders . What’s more it will come with the original sleeve still also looking pretty good after 66 years of careful safe keeping . No reserve so the winning bid secures both a trophy rockabilly single & an ongoing investment .
