Disco/Nu Disco/Re-Edits Side 1. Nice & Slow Side 2. Nice & Slow (Instrumental)
Way back in 1983, the owners of New York's Opal Studio - a recording space that shared space in the same building as West End Records - decided to launch their own disco-boogie project. Masterminded by John Gomez and Elliot Rosoff, Opal released just two 12" singles - both of which have become cult classics amongst the boogie collector community. 'Nice & Slow', which here gets reissued for the first time, was the act's debut - a gorgeous chunk of emotive boogie positivity rich in fluid synth-bass, Chic-style guitar licks, sun-kissed melodies and huggable lead vocals. The duo's superb original mix takes pride of place on side A, with the dub mix style 'instrumental' - a shorter take peppered with effects and Levan style mixing tricks - nestling on the flip.
