Here is a real and impossibly rare piece of punk history. The notorious ORIGINAL RELEASE version of Soundtracks Zum Untergang, a compilation album by various German punk bands that was seized by police and outlawed upon its original release in 1980.
The album was eventually allowed to go on sale two years later after many of the tracks had been heavily censored for their "anti State" content, whole lines of songs had been 'bleeped' out. The seized original pressings were trashed.
However, a TINY amount of the uncensored originals have surfaced since it was outlawed forty two years ago but few in decent condition and, to my knowledge ABSOLUTELY NONE that still contained the poster/lyrics sheet insert that so offended the authorities. This copy is both MINT and complete with that insert. A genuinely historic document, and one of the most savage punk albums ever made.
The music is, naturally, fast and furious. Pure snarling aggressive punk rock. (The Label called Aggressive Rock Produktion!) The vinyl here shines rich, glossy and bright. Totally unmarked and free from all scratches, scuffs and warping. Amazing after more than four decades. The sleeve is clear, sharp and crisp with solid spine and edges. To the reverse there is what looks like a small patch of sticker residue but this is only apparent from certain angles in light.
The ALL IMPORTANT lyric insert simply couldn't be more perfect. It seems like I may have been the first person to remove it from the sleeve. To repeat, even though some VG copies of Soundtracks Zum Untergang have been on the market they are usually VG+ at best and NEVER have the insert. There cannot be many other complete - and MINT - copies of this record in the world. A punk rock rarity supreme and while The Sex Pistols liked to think they were outlawed and gagged by the State - these bands really were.
This album was their crime.
