Description

NORTHWEST BY REQUEST - 12 BY 12 (Valane, US 1971) Cover: EX Record: M- US privately pressed various artist lp out of Seattle. A great collection of heavy psych, garage, blues psych and soul psych tracks by these unknown artists, twelve in all. The band Pitchblende delivers the fantastic heavy psych number 'So Pretty', Academe does the heavy prog psych track 'I'll Find A Way',  Captain Oh-Wow gives us a very late 60's sounding psych and bluesy psych track 'What Is Real', Sleeping Village does 'Have You Ever Really Wondered' that sounds like some of the vintage UK blues psych of the time, Adam Wind's 'Catch The Wind' is a cool groovin' soul funk psych with cool, clock-like cowbell, Born Free's 'Days and Weeks' is a well done dark prog/psych folk number with oddly warped instrumentation, purposely flat or monotone male and female vocals and trippy lyrics. Rocking Horse brings us the southern-fried rocker 'I Left My Heart On The Railroad', duo Crash & Buffalo's 'Lonely Man's Dream' is a drifting, dark acid folk track with male and female vocals, introspective and dark lyrics, strumming acoustic guitar, etc.,  Chinook does the soul psych track 'Love's Confusion' that sounds like it is straight out of 1967 with great organ and guitar work and male vocals sounding similar to band Vanilla Fudge. There are really only two turkeys on this lp, one being 'Come Go With Me' by the lame Shanana-like band Louie and the Rockets' and the uninteresting loungey bluesy soul song 'Riding High' by Shirley Lorene. A cool collection of stuff worth checking out. No reserve. Good luck!
