The Heavy Vinyl is Clean, shines and looks Excellent +++. The record Plays EXCELLENT +++and the Labels are unmarked. The Gatefold Cover is Very Good with no major damage .

Nick’s first album, named after the warning found towards the end of a packet of Rizla cigarette papers, was begun in July 1968 at Chelsea’s Sound Techniques studios, an 8 track studio built on the site of the old Chelsea dairy at 46a Old Church Street SW3. The finished album wasn’t released until over a year later.
Joe Boyd produced the album in terms of booking studios and hiring musicians but it was John Wood, the album’s engineer, who was responsible for the finished sound. Around this time the emphasis for popular music was starting to shift from the single to the LP and bands were starting to experiment with instrumentation beyond the usual guitar, bass and drums and take longer to find the sounds they wanted. This suited Nick’s material and, in any case, he didn’t exactly have a well-performed live act to commit to tape anyway.
Initially in-house arranger at Apple Richard Hewson was drafted in to arrange the strings, but Nick wanted Cambridge friend Robert Kirby for the job. Despite Kirby’s youth (he was 19 at the time) and relative inexperience, Boyd was impressed with the results and Kirby was given the job. The four tracks Kirby arranged (for string quartet, bowed double bass and – on one track – flute) were recorded in a single 3 hour session with Nick playing live in the same room. One further string arrangement on ‘River Man’ was done by Harry Robinson.
Other musicians brought in to fill out the sound included Fairport Convention’s Richard Thompson on electric guitar and Danny Thompson on double bass. The bass parts were overdubbed after Nick had recorded his guitar and vocal parts.
The cover image was shot by Keith Morris in a shoot on April 29th 1969.

Payment:
We happily accept the following payment methods:
1. PayPal. We prefer PayPal; it is the fastest and safest way to pay for your eBay purchases. We do not pass on PayPal fees to customers.
2. Cheques or Postal Orders. We accept sterling cheques drawn on a UK bank account or UK postal orders. Please make them payable to Doghousemusic and post to: Doghousemusic, Unit 27A, Dreadnought Trading Estate Bridport Dorset...
3. Cash on collection. We accept cash on collection for most items. However, this must be completed within 7 days of the auction ending. Please bring the exact money, including any collection fee as per your eBay invoice.
4. UK bank transfers (BACS or CHAPS). We are happy to be paid by direct bank transfer from a UK bank - please contact us for our bank details. Your payment will need to include any bank charges. International bank transfers are not possible.
5. Banker's drafts. For high-value items we accept banker's drafts drawn on a UK bank account. We may still wait until payment is in our account before releasing the item.
We do not accept any forms of payment other than those stated above.
In particular, we do not accept:
1. Money transfers of any kind.
2. Credit cards. Please use your credit card to fund a PayPal account and pay using that method.
Shipping:
We pack and dispatch 99% of items within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment. We often pack and disptach items same-day. We use professional packing materials and comply with all courier packing guidelines to minimise any chance of damage during shipping. Our quoted postage & packing charges are not negotiable. They are based on the weight and nature of the item and include:
1. The cost of using a postal service or courier
2. The cost of the packing materials used for the item
3. The cost of staff time taken to pack and ship the item
4. VAT at the current rate.
If you buy several items at the same time we can usually offer a discount on the combined shipping charge. There are a few instances where this is not possible due to the size or nature of the items. We do not include postal insurance as standard. We always offer insurance as an option where possible. We are always happy to quote for enhanced postal insurance and/or recorded delivery options. We take out postal insurance on behalf of the customer, and customers remain responsible for making any claims against the courier for loss or damage during shipping if necessary.
Terms:
If you purchase an item from us we will contact you within 24 hours. If you have won an Auction or made a buy it now purchase we consider it to be a binding contract and require payment within the specified time.
