This is an original pressing of Neil Young's self-titled first LP on Reprise Records number RS 6317. This LP was originally released with a different mix, most noticable on four songs: If I Could Have Her Tonight, I've Been Waiting For You, Here We Are In The Years and What Did You Do To My Life. These mixes are significantly different, but not different takes. This makes for fascinating listening as you hear an organ part that isn't there in the better known version, or you hear a new guitar, or you DON'T hear something that used to be there!
All of the original mix versions were released with the infamous "No Name" cover, but not all no name covers have records with the original mixes inside! There are many of these listed on ebay, please be sure you are getting a true original.
You can of course tell which version you have by listening but you can also tell by the fact that there is NO RE-1 in the trail-off area ON EITHER SIDE of the album. I have seen copies with RE-1 on one side but not the other, but to have all of the original mixes you need the original on BOTH sides!
Also ALL original mix copies have the Reprise Warner 7 Arts Steamboat label, but NOT all Steamboat W7 label copies have the original mix!
The vinyl on this copy is in beautiful NM- condition! There is NO writing on the labels.
The LP also comes with the proper inner sleeve, which is a Warner 7 Arts Reprise ad sleeve.
The cover is solid with no split seams and a beautiful spine. There is very minor shelf wear. There is NO writing on the cover except for someone's initials. The cover is in VG+ condition.
