Notes: A 70s Brit Easy classic from keyboardist Nick Ingman -- one of the standout titles in the legendary Studio 2 series from EMI, and a record we like even better than most of Ingman's sound library work! The record features highly dynamic interplay between acoustic and electric instrumentation -- the latter of which includes lots of electric piano and synthesizer from Ingman, plus bits of electric guitar and bass that are often recorded very high up in the mix -- in a mode that gives some tracks a very eerie 70s sci fi soundtrack sort of feel, but makes others sound like much more straight ahead groovers! As with other Studio 2 sessions, there's a really unbridled sonic quality to the whole record -- a 70s take on Hi Fi dynamics, but one that's given plenty of funky British touches as well! Tony Coe is on reeds, and titles include "An Octave Faster", "Tricky Nicky", "Terminator", "Come Together", "Brass Knuckles", "Happy Man", and "American Pie".

Oh yeah! arranger-composer Nick Ingman's brilliant 1976 album Terminator. Originally released by EMI on their flagship 'Studio2Stereo' label, Terminator sports a fascinating blend of styles including jazz, rock, big-band and the best elements of electronic, popular and even classical music. Performed by a studio band consisting of such luminaries as Brian Bennett, Barry Morgan, Tony Coe, Spike Heatley and Roger Coulam and others, Nick Ingman's Terminator sounds as fresh today as it did when it was released over 30 years ago and is arguably the best of his commercially released LPs.
