EASILY ONE OF THE TOP-10 RAREST PSYCHEDELIC ALBUMS IN EXISTENCE, NO CONTEST! IN FACT, WE WOULD DARE SAY THAT THIS ALBUM IS EVEN IN THE TOP-FIVE GROUP OF RAREST PSYCHEDELIC ALBUMS EVER RELEASED. THIS IS THE FIRST, ONE AND ONLY COPY OF THE ORIGINAL PRESSING WE HAVE SEEN IN 40 YEARS OF COLLECTING – AND WE DO NOT EXPECT TO SEE ANOTHER ONE – EVER!

·       NOTE: THIS ALBUM IS SO BIZARRELY RARE AND OBSCURE, THAT EVEN THE EXACT DATES OF ITS RECORDING AND RELEASE REMAIN A MYSTERY, WITH ESTIMATES RANGING FROM 1966 TO 1968. WE SUSPECT THAT THE ALBUM WAS RECORDED IN LATE 1966 OR EARLY 1967, AND RELEASED NOT LATER THAN MID-1967. WE ARE ALMOST CERTAIN THAT THE ALBUM WAS RELEASED WELL BEFORE 1968.

·       ORIGINAL FLAT, NON-GLOSSY MAROON RIDON LABEL WITH SILVER PRINT,

·       INCREDIBLY RARE ORIGINAL, ODD-SHAPED (HEXAGONAL, SIX-CORNERED, INTENDED TO EMULATE SUGAR CUBE LACED WITH ACID), ODD-SIZED (OVERSIZED, 14 X 14” IN SIZE) , SILVER FOIL COVER. BECAUSE SO VERY FEW OF THESE WERE MADE (MOST OF THE RECORDS WERE SHIPPED IN STANDARD, GENERIC WHITE COVERS) AND BECAUSE THESE SENSITIVE COVERS WERE SO INCREDIBLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO WEAR AND TEAR – PARTICUARLY THE SIX CORNERS WHICH INEVITABLY STUCK OUT AND ABSORBED RUBBING, BENDING, FRICTION AND ALL MANNERS OF ABUSE – THE ORIGINAL COVERS ARE, IN FACT, MUCH RARER THAN EVEN RECORDS THEMSELVES (WHICH ARE MASSIVELY RARE TO BEGIN WITH)

First and foremost, we would like to dispense with some common misconceptions about this album:

The first misconception is that the album is rather mediocre and nothing special -- at least this is what jaded and arrogant, all-knowing critics would have you believe. THIS IS PLAIN NONSENSE. Not only is this a truly great album, it is, in fact, one of the PRIME SLABS of early, formative West Coast psychedelia,  with each and every psych trademark one could possibly hope for: quirky, trippy melodies;  hallucinogenic and mind-expanding sound, recording effects, tape loops,  delicate, frail  and ornate ornamentation and intriguing arrangements, twanging and ringing Rickenbeckers and tons and tons of wonderful group vocal harmonies.  Folks, take our word: West Coast psychedelia hardly ever gets better than this. In our book of psychedelic masterworks, this rank somewhere between the Byrds’ Younger than Yesterday, Jefferson Airplane’s first album and Love’s DaCapo, although not always as professional or competent, which kinda only adds charm and allure to the whole project.

Second misconception concerns the album’s rarity. Folks, this album is so INCREDIBLY rare, that you can reincarnate not once, not twice, but multiple times -  each time as a serious record collector – and NEVER – EVER! – see one of these.  On a 1-10 scale of rarity and collectibility, this piece scores something like 13,226 – way, way off the charts, straight into the stratosphere and off to the farthest reaches of the outer universe. In fact, we doubt that that more than 5-6 copies have popped up on eBay (or anywhere else) in the ENTIRE history of the company – roughly one every 2-3 years or so. Think twice before you pass up on this copy, as you may not get a chance to find another one until 2014 or so – if ever!.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+(+) . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters). The record plays beautifully (ALMOST NEAR MINT) from start to finish, without any distortion whatsoever and with only minimal, if any, surface noise (only rarely, and only in quiet passages or during the track breaks). This record was play-grade

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER: THIS IS THE INCREDIBLY RARE SIX-CORNERED, OVERSIZED SILVER FOIL COVER, MADE TO RESEMBLE ACID-LACED SUGAR CUBE).

·       PLEASE NOTE: BECAUSE OF ITS ODD SHAPE AND SIZE (IT WILL STICK OUT OF THE NEATLY ORGANIZED RECORD COLLECTION LIKE A SORE THUMB), WE RECOMMEND THAT THE RECORD AND COVER BE STORED SEPARATELY; FOR THIS PURPOSE, WE WILL SHIP THE RECORD IN AN ADDITIONAL,  SEPARATE, GENERIC, WHITE PAPERBOARD COVER WHICH CAN BE USED TO STORE THE RECORD OUTSIDE OF ITS ORIGINAL HEXAGONAL COVER

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has some visible ring wear; On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 5.

-        Significant wear and tear in two lateral corners (at 9:00 and at 3:00 o’clock positions), with some chipping and fraying. NO parts of the paper base are missing, but some tiny sections of tin layer have eroded and worn off. Minor dents / tears also noted in these two corners

-         Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on all three seams

-        Cover has visible "wrinkles"(creases)  in all six corners (the LEAST affected ones are the corners at 1:00 and 5:00 o’clock positions)

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on both sides (nothing significant)

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging. (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        Strangely, no split seams! (although each side is precipitously close to splitting)

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
