Description

 Up for auction is a test pressing for the upcoming limited Melvins 12" titled Paraquat Plus to be released in conjunction with Amphetamine Reptile's 25th Anniversary Bash on August 28th, 2010 with the likes of the Melvins, Boss Hog, Hammerhead, The Thrown Ups, Today IsThe Day, God Bullies, Gay Witch Abortion, Vaz & White Drugs set to perform.

The normal limited edition one-sided 12" features a 13-minute long title song by the Melvins & has a sleeve designed by Haze-XXL of AmRep. Each sleeve has 2 hand-pressed linoleum cut prints on newsprint paper with additional line work adhered to the front & back of the record sleeve. The pressing on these are limited to just 100 copies & will be available at the 25th Anniversary show.

The test pressing up for auction has a front image that's somewhat different from the normal edition. In addition to being on black paper instead of the normal cream color newsprint, it's also been printed in silver ink over an earlier red ink & then drawn over with graphite to give it a sheen against the black paper. The eyeballs on the face are Haze's thumb prints in red ink. I've included photos of a few different angles of the sleeve to try to capture the overall pewter-like iridescence of the design.

The back of sleeve is much more like the standard sleeve except that the print is trimmed along the sides (the normal edition is an uneven ripped edges.) The back also differs in that there's no other embellishment to the design other than Tom Hazelmyer's signature & the words "TEST PRESSING 1/5- HAZE XXL" along the left side & "AMPHETAMINE REPTILE RECORDS!" along the right written in silver Sharpie marker.

The record itself has word "MELVIN" scrawled around the paper center on 1 side & "T.P. 7/5/10" on the other showing the approval date on the press.

Only 5 test pressings of this recording were made & this is the ONLY sleeve with this unique variation. Don't miss out!
