Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have accumulated over a period of more than 45 years or more! This is the earliest possible 1st UK Pressing of Neil Young "Stars "N Bars " album released in 1977 very scarce and collectable to find in this tip top condition! The audio quality is absolutely stunning through out this album , in fact I dought that you will find a better sounding vinyl. The vinyl looks and sounds like it has never been played in my opinion. The audio is graded as near mint cristal clear and very, very vibrant through out. There are no needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud annoying constant clicks or pops on this vinyl. The original 1st issue un- laminated Shorewood Packaging printed cover is also in exceptional tip top condition being stored in a case with the vinyl removed and separated from the cover for protection, . This is how I have always stored my records! Cover is also graded at least excellent plus in my opinion! A very collectable and sought after album especially in this condition!

American Stars 'n Bars is the eighth studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young, released on Reprise Records in 1977. Compiled from recording sessions scattered over a 29-month period, it includes "Like a Hurricane," one of Young's best-known songs. It peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200, and has been certified a gold record by the RIAA
In the summer of 1976, Young rekindled his partnership with Stephen Stills, resulting in a tour that ended abruptly and an album. He then embarked on his second tour of the year with Crazy Horse, but spent the first half of 1977 off the road. His previous album had been issued in November 1975; after recording enough tracks to fill up one side of an album at sessions in April, he assembled additional tracks from earlier recording dates to make up the balance of the new album.
"Homegrown" and "Star of Bethlehem" had initially been slated for his unreleased LP Homegrown. Both of those songs, along with "Like a Hurricane," "Hold Back the Tears" and "Will to Love," had also been slated for yet another unreleased Young album project, Chrome Dreams. Seven of the nine tracks feature his regular backing band Crazy Horse, and another features country music star Emmylou Harris in a vocal duet with Young. Songs from the April 1977 sessions are all in a country-styled vein.
The album cover was designed by actor Dean Stockwell, who had also written the screenplay that inspired After the Gold Rush. It features Connie Moskos, girlfriend of producer David Briggs, drooping with a bottle of Canadian whisky in her hand and an intoxicated Young with his face pressed against the glass floor.
Initially receiving favorable reviews, the album was described as a "sampler...of Young's various styles", even a "hodgepodge."[4] Paul Nelson, reviewing the album for Rolling Stone commented on the mixed selection of songs and styles, and praising the "gale-force guitar playing" on "Like a Hurricane":
The album can almost be taken as a sampler, but not a summation, of Young's various styles from After the Gold Rush and Harvest (much of the country rock) through On the Beach (the incredible "Will to Love") to Zuma ("Like a Hurricane" is a worthy successor to "Cortez the Killer" as a guitar showcase) with a lot of overlap within the songs
Neil Young made a point of listing the recording dates of the songs on American Stars 'n Bars; the dates even appeared on the LP labels. They revealed that the songs had been cut at four different sessions dating back to 1974. But even without such documentation, it would have been easy to tell that the album was a stylistic hodgepodge, its first side consisting of country-tinged material featuring steel guitar and fiddle, plus backup vocals from Linda Ronstadt and then-unknown Nicolette Larson, while the four songs on the second side varied from acoustic solo numbers like "Will to Love" to raging rockers such as "Like a Hurricane." "Will to Love" is a particularly spooky and ambitious piece, extending the romantic metaphor of a salmon swimming upstream across seven minutes. The album's centerpiece however, is "Like a Hurricane," one of Young's classic hard rock songs and guitar workouts, and a perpetual concert favorite
It was finally released for compact disc using the HDCD-encoding process on August 19, 2003, as part of the Neil Young Digital Masterpiece Series along with On the Beach, Hawks & Doves, and Re-ac-tor.

The Vinyl
This is the original thicker , heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest original pressings! (Later press are much more flimsier and less robust)!
The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps. The vinyl has retained its original sheen from new in my opinion on initial inspection this looks like it has obviously not been played that much and in my opinion, I can't see any spider traces on the labels!! On close inspection any marks that could possibly be seen would be very light sleeve removal/scuffs only but importantly no audio sounding marks or needle marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops that I heard at all!
The audio quality
I have played this track for track at very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume two times! From the moment that the needle hits the playing surface , it is obvious that this vinyl not only visually but audibly has only had very very minimal play only! The audio is stunning cristal clear and vibrant, very bright and clear throughout without any signs of distortion at all and plays with a lovely deep bassey feel only found like this on earliest pressings! I would grade the audio very near as mint in my opinion! (I don't think that you will find better very rich and vibrant through out)
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for isolated static/ticks only, and not consistent through out the audio. Please remember that this is a genuine 39 year old record that would have originally been played on a 39 year old system.
The Labels
These are the original orange Reprise labels (see photos) The labels are rich in colour and are very clean , all text is fully readable. It is obvious to me that this vinyl has only had barely been played by the fact that I find it hard to even see a spider mark., the spindle hole is very tight on the spindle as if it has never been played before, it is free of any ware and of course is perfectly round! The plastic can still be seen in the spindle hole.
The Record Sleeve
This is the original picture insert paper record sleeve no splits or tares, Light creasing/yellowing with age only "Made In England" Note: There is a library numbered sticker on one side that I have not attempted to remove. This is the original!
The Cover
This Is The Original 1st UK issue Un- laminated 'Shorewood Packaging' printed printed cover in absolutely stunning condition through out, concidering this is 42 years old! Clean and very straight in appearance. No splits or tares. all text is readable! There is No real nasty rubbing/storage wear Very, very rare! no real nasty creases to report, any ther are, you have to look to notice. . Any indents or marks on this cover you have to look to notice. The cover has always been seperated from the vinyl and sleeve since purchased from new! The rear is also very clean indeed! The spine is square Unbeleivably rare like this! Graded at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion!
