IN GERMAN LANGUAGE ...... Neil Young trat gegen Ende seiner „Live in a Rusted Out Garage“ Tour in der Konzerthalle „Cow Palace“ in San Francisco mit seiner Band „Crazy Horse“ auf. Mit dieser Platte ist der Hörer mitten in der herrlichen Liveatmosphäre und bekommt ein paar seiner bekannten Songs, wie beispielsweise „Down By The River“, das mit Mundharmonika und Akustikgitarre gefühlvoll begleitete „Heart of Gold“ oder „After The Goldrush“, bei dem er Piano und Mundharmonika simultan einsetzte, zu hören. Das der damals 40- jährige Neil Young nach 16 Soloalben noch nichts von seiner Energie auf der Bühne verloren hatte, beweist er mit Rocknummern wie dem ein wenig an die Stones erinnernten „Mr. Soul“ oder Stücken wie „When You Dance, I Can Really Love“.
Durch die hervorragende Klangqualität holt man sich die Liveatmosphäre ins Wohnzimmer und fühlt sich als Teil dieses großartigen Konzerts.  ...................

Auch Hardcore-Fans werden den größten Teil von Youngs 80er-Alben nicht zu seinen Meisterwerken zählen. Es ging daher ein Aufatmen durch die Fanreihen, als er sich dann im September 1986 doch wieder mit den alten Kumpels von Crazy Horse auf Tour begab – und man feststellen konnte, daß weder die alte Magie noch die Energie dieser besonderen Kombination verloren waren. Das Abschlußkonzert der Tour fand am 21.11. vor den Toren San Franciscos statt und wurde vom Radiosender KLOS FM übertragen, liegt daher auch in mehr als akzeptabler Klangqualität (sehr authentischer Hallen-Sound: Je lauter, desto besser!) vor und wurde nun endlich erstmals auf Vinyl veröffentlicht. Was man hört, ist deutlich überzeugender als das die Erwartungen dann leider nur bedingt erfüllende gemeinsame Studio-Album "Life": Die Keyboards und das laute Schlagzeug wirken hier besser integriert, und die Mischung aus Klassikern, unterschätzten jüngeren Songs ("Sample And Hold", "Computer Age") und gänzlich neuen Tracks (die dann im Folgejahr auf "Life" erschienen, in den Studioversionen aber deutlich an Kraft verloren) ist gelungen. Das wirft schon ein neues Licht auf Youngs 80er-Aktivitäten… – Sehr schöne Aufmachung als buchartiges Klappcover im festen Schuber, je eine LP auf rotem, weißem und blauem Vinyl! (2013)  ...................
