NEIL ARDLEY
Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows

ORIGINAL UK GULL (GULP 1018 ) FIRST PRESSING (June 1976) OF NEIL ARDLEY'S BRIT JAZZ CLASSIC "Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows"- IN STUNNING CONDITION (probably NEVER been played) AND DELIVERING PRACTICALLY FLAWLESS AUDIO ON MY SYSTEM (AT A LOUD VOLUME!) WITH A CRYSTAL CLEAR, CLEAN, SHARP AND FRESH SOUND (beautifully produced and recorded by DECCA who cut some of the finest sounding records of the period) - GREAT COPY

PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE FIRST (SMALL) GULL LABELS
MATRIX: XZAL-14452.P-1W / XZAL-14453.P-3W (first pressing)
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL DEEPLY GLOSSY FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE “Printed in England by Robert Stace”
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL DECCA COMPANY INNER SLEEVE (date coded 'R.S. 6-76' - June, 1976)

THIS IS A REALLY BEAUTIFUL COPY OF A TREMENDOUS PIECE OF WORK AND VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The suite's seven movements, ranging in mood from the gentle and pastoral to the fiery and urgent, are seriously enjoyable through-compositions in their own right, and also the settings for a series of glistening solos from Ian Carr, Brian Smith, Dave Macrae, Geoff Castle, Paul Buckmaster, Barbara Thompson, Tony Coe, Ken Shaw, and Bob Bertles—with Buckmaster's electric cello on "Rainbow Three," Thompson's soprano on "Four," and Coe's clarinet on "Five" approaching the sublime.
Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows lives up to every myth that developed around it during its wilderness years.
This LP is truly a landmark in British jazz

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and unmarked with no evident spindle traces - beautiful copy, possibly completely unplayed
VINYL Visual: The vinyl retains its deep, like-new glossy sheen and is practically unmarked
VINYL Audio: Stunning audio quality throughout - tremendously rich, deep and warm sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) it's NEAR MINT. There is the very occasional minor light 'tick' (very, very minor and really hardly worth a mention) but otherwise, absolutely superb - this is a beautifully clean pressing which plays to an extremely high standard with all frequencies bright and clear, no groove-wear and no distortion (it's possibly never been played) and is a fantastic copy of an outstanding LP
SLEEVE: The sleeve is also in beautiful condition - the edges are crisp, sharp and unworn and the spine displays all the text clear and bold and the front laminate has a beautiful glass-like gloss. The whole sleeve is in great shape - NEAR MINT

"It’s beauty and superb sense of structure will mark it out, in no uncertain terms, as one of the great musical achievements of our age."
Karl Dallas, Melody Maker

"The brisk alteration of moods and textures keeps the listener on the edge of his seat ... stunning variety."
Dave Gelly, The Observer

"... a classic."
Brian Case, New Musical Express

"... made to be savoured, enjoyed and, maybe, thought about a bit ... within it lies a part of the musical future."
Derek Jewell, The Sunday Times
