RECORD CONDITION:

The debut album from Todd Rundgren’s band Nazz, contained one out-and-out garage/psych classic in the shape of ‘Open My Eyes’. Unlike many long-players by sixties acts who put out one or two killer singles, the rest of the album isn’t used up with filler. There’s plenty of fuzz guitar action to get excited over, but there’s also an abundance of melodic and orchestral ideas floating about that demonstrates the fact that no ordinary musical talent was behind this band. Nazz passed on almost completely unheard in their brief lifetime with Rundgren going on to a prolific solo career, but they did leave behind three great but obscure psych albums of which this, the first, is arguably the best.

The appearance of this disc is that of a new piece of vinyl, it is so clean looking, bright and glossy that it really does look never played.  It is well worth its sensational grade of NEAR MINT!!!  There are no bad marks or scratches, As always with first pressings, the audio clarity will knock you out and if you’re familiar with any of this material from re-issues or CDs then it’s safe to say the sound quality on this original will knock you out. I know ‘Open My Eyes’ mainly from the Nuggets sets but the recording sounds so different here, you can just hear that there is so much more going on with the music that it puts all other issues to shame. If you’re interested in the sound of great sixties US psych or just the work of Todd Rundgren, you will be doing yourself a massive favour with the purchase of this scarce and collectable first pressing album in quite wonderful condition!

COVER CONDITION:

This is a gatefold album cover that’s still fully intact, bright shiny and exceptionally clean without any serious damage. It is graded as EXCELLENT. This really is a classic example of a well cared album cover, spared the usual complaints that attach themselves to 36 year old record sleeves - such as un-sticking, scuffed edges and ringwear. None of that applies here, this is a record cover maintained to the highest standard. The absolute worst there is to report is some tiny creases that can be seen very close up and a couple of the smallest, insignificant scuff marks on the front and back, so tiny as to barely warrant a mention. The spine is still firm, upright and with clearly legible text. The perfect album case, with a nice fully intact paper inner, that compliments an equally wonderful record.
