Mordicai Jones Link Wray 1971 Polydor LP
You are bidding on the self-titled LP by Mordicai Jones. It was released on the Polydor label (PD-5010) in 1971. Mordicai Jones is actually vocalist Gene Johnson backed by Link Wray and his band. The band features Link and Doug Wray on guitar, as well as Billy Hodges on keyboards, John Grummere on guitar, Norman Sue on bass, Steve Verroca on drums, and Ned Levitt providing backing vocals. The liner notes credit Bobby Howard as lead vocalist Mordicai Brown, but he allegedly walked out on the project after backing tracks were already laid down. The album was recorded at Link Wray’s studio in Accoceek, MD., and the sound is similar to Link’s self-titled 1971 Polydor LP. The record is in VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS condition. It has its original sheen and at first glance looks new. However, upon close inspection under a bright light one can detect some wispy hairlines and contact marks, but no scratches. The record plays well. The gatefold cover is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition, with minor wear around the edges and a tiny, quarter inch seam split in the upper right corner that has been professionally repaired from the inside without tape.
