Description

Here's an unplayed copy of RST Records/Blues Document 2018, "Mississippi Girls (1928-1931)." This Austrian release gathers the complete recordings in chronological order for Rosie Mae Moore, Mary Butler, Mattie Delaney, and Geechie Wiley & Elvie Thomas." Charlie McCoy and Ishman Bracey are heard becaking Rosie Mae Moore, while members of the Mississippi Shieks play with Mary Butler, which may be a pseudonym for Rosie Mae Moore. Anyway, these are rare and outstanding examples of prewar Delta blues performed by women, especially Mattie Delaney's self-accompanied "Down the Big Road Blues" and "Tallahatchie River Blues."

Please note: Due to the size of my scanner, I was only able to scan about two-thirds of the album's cover. The album's jacket is clean and intact, although it has a couple of bends. The album itself appears to have never been played. *****  This is one of several OJL, Yazoo, Arhoolie, Folklyric, Blues Classics, and other small-label albums I'll be auctioning this week. I do combine shipping, so please check out my other auctions.
