Description
The fifth recording to come out of the Instant Composers Pool stable (co-founded by Mengelberg, William Breuker and Han Bennink), Fragments is a suite in ten pieces. Recorded in Rotterdam March 3rd, 1970, it is a distillation of the Dutch jazz scene of the late 60's and early 70's. Featuring the interaction between masters pianist Misha Mengelberg, guitarist Derek Bailey, saxophonist John Tchicai and percussionist Han Bennink, Fragments accurately capturess the vibrancy and spirit of the northwest European avant garde/free jazz scene of the time.
The condition of this side is excellent. The record has no discernible scratches or scuffs. It is virtually mint. The cover is in excellent condition as well, extremely corner wear, no splits and only a slight amount of imbedded dust. Quite admirable. As I bought it in 1972, I am confident it is the original pressing.
