The holy grail of underground free jazz!

Complete Milford Graves and Don Pullen Yale University concert: “At Yale University (PG-286)” & “Nommo (S.R.P. LP-290)”. Stunning NM condition!

Once in a lifetime offer

These two albums are among the most important underground free jazz albums. They are of course also among the rarest and sought after. “Nommo” is up for auction on eBay once in a blue moon (and most often in a later version with a different cover only featuring Milford Graves), but you will be hard pressed to find a copy that matches this in terms of condition.

“Nommo” is rare on its own account but the first album in the concert sequence “At Yale University” is literally never offered in free auction. To my knowledge this album has never been offered at eBay. Few people seems to have actually held the record in their hands, as numerous sources quotes details that are slightly different to the factual information on the record. The cover is uniquely hand-painted on a black background; I have never seen another copy nor have I been able to locate this anywhere on the Internet, so I cannot possibly tell how the other copies are. Here is a link to an interesting story including this item:

History

Both albums were obtained some 10 years ago at a Salvation Army sale in Denmark (yes, this is a true story J). They were donated as part of a jazz-blues collection of about 400 LPs from a retired sailor. He bought these records during the 60’s while sailing overseas. Having bought the records he meticulously preserved them by wrapping them in thick heavy duty plastic and sealing them on top by means of needle and cotton thread. They cannot be removed from this “seal” without cutting the plastic so the covers remain virtually untouched for about 40 years. Most of the 400 albums were "sealed" like that.  I have opened this seal on many records as the plastic used is a bit blurred (and of course placed them inside modern PVC-covers); the covers inside have all been in absolutely pristine mint condition. These two records remain as "sealed" by the original owner, but the condition is guaranteed. Most records from this collection, including these, were apparently never or, at the very most, played once or twice. (No - there are no other albums from this collection available J… and none even close in rarity).

Shipment

Records will (of course) be shipped out of covers to prevent seam and spine cuttings, and packed very carefully. Shipping and insurance at actual cost. Beware that the Danish postal services are quite expensive so a shipment like this easily surpasses USD 40 overseas.

Sorry- no first timers

I know there is a first time for everyone but this is not it. For this item, I will not accept bids from buyers without feedback or bidders with a disproportionate amount of negative feedback.

I recieved the following information, which is certainly of interest since little information is available from other sources, from a fellow jazz-fan checking out my items. This fan is in possesion of both albums, and his version of the "At Yale University", features a cover handpainting strikingly different to the one offered here:

"I receieved the following from somebody on rec.bluenote in 2000, after I had made an enquiry about this recording. He wrote: "I knew a record collector in Portland, Maine who paid $350 for a hand-painted Pullen-Graves LP. I believe there were only between 100-500 of these made -- probably closer to 100. Milford did all of the paintings (I was a student of his, and he told lots of stories, including that he painted these covers) It's sad, though, that these are going for so much when Pullen and Graves probably didn't make $350 for all of the records they sold. There was a second pressing made in the 70's (credited to the Milford Graves Duo featuring Don Pullen) in a standard sleeve that had a picture of Graves on it. These are easier to come by, although I just saw one go on ebay for $137." I hope this helps you."
