Secondhand Record Album For Sale

Item: Miles Davis Kind Of Blue 1959 Columbia Six Eye Mono CL 1355 Record Minty Vinyl. Item ships in Bags Unlimited brand cardboard record mailer with padding or bubble wrap, unless you're buying multiple items which need a larger box so that they can ship together. Attention International Buyers: No international shipping on this item. Thank you for understanding. Album cover is nice shape with no seam splits and very little discoloration on the back. Two notes: the edges and corners show overall minor wear as do the pictures of Miles. The upper right corner area edge and the back cover photo of Miles show the most wear. Because the background on the front of the cover is black, usually when you see this record on the market it looks REALLY abraded, so I know this is a special copy. Covers such as the one offered here are generally rated by Goldmine as E or VG+ (apparently they mean the same thing). The record has always been stored in its original clear plastic inner sleeve. Amazingly, there are no scratches or scuffs on the vinyl and there are no spindle marks on the label. It literally looks like it was never played (although it needs cleaning). So, it may be NM by visual grading, but if two or more specialists can agree, it can possibly be graded as M. Even if you had the cover touched up with watercolor and it appeared M at that point and the vinyl record was confirmed to be M, it would still in reality be just NM overall per touching up and the grade average would be between VG+ and M, which is NM. I’m not grading the item – just presenting my honest thoughts on this wonderful piece. As for the matrix numbers in the trail off or dead wax, I think that the “1” indicates being from the first master tape mix or generation, and the “D” and “AE” refer to the specific lacquers (4th and 16th) which were made from the master and then sent to the record plants. I noticed in my research that another record enthusiast had seen a white label promo version of Kind Of Blue which was also “1D” stamped, so in other words, very early pressings may have any letter(s).

Overall Condition: Used / secondhand item sold AS-IS. I haven’t play tested the record, so I’m selling it and its accessories such as the cover as being in “For parts or not working” condition. I feel that this is the proper eBay condition category for this item as many records don’t function as intended (per surface noise, defective playback due to scratches or manufacturing defect to vinyl) and their covers often have damage such as seam splits and bad odors which may require repair or treatment. If you like the ‘shabby chic’ look of the item, you can buy a record album frame for it from Ikea for 7.99 and display it on your wall.

Item Condition In eBay Terms Only: As the seller, what I’m required by eBay to describe (in terms of condition) conflicts with record grading, as the two types of condition descriptors are vastly different. For example, “Good” condition on eBay means “Very minimal damage”, yet “Good” by Goldmine record grading standards means “significant ring wear, heavy writing…”, etc. I sell all ‘Records’ category items as being in “For parts or not working” condition. I’ve noted the item’s flaws and posted multiple pictures of the actual, exact item.

eBay Condition Defined: “For parts or not working = An item that does not function as intended and is not fully operational. This includes items that are defective in ways that render them difficult to use, items that require service or repair, or items missing essential components. See the seller's listing for full details.”

Note From Seller: You have my promise that I’ve listed this item as being in the lowest possible eBay condition category, “For parts or not working”. I’m selling the item as Used because it’s an imperfect secondhand item and I’m not the original owner. I’ve listed the flaws of the item as best as can be reasonably expected, and pride myself on honest selling practices. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. Thank you!
