Miles Davis, The Complete Studio Recordings of the Miles Davis Quintet, 1965-June 1968, ten 180g LPs on Mosaic records.

The vinyl is pristine. I may have played one of them once, but I don't think so. The labels are similar, as is the booklet. As new, in short. The box has a small scratch on the front which you can see in the picture.

A word about me

What I am selling is from my own collection, mostly duplicates I need to clear out to make room for new albums. ;-) I have been collecting records for almost thirty years, and I am a serious audiophile. The condition of the vinyl matters very much to me. I rarely buy anything that I do not believe to be in outstanding condition, unless it is an original pressing I know to be rare, and even then I only buy what I think will clean up well. I handle everything with great care, and what I play I play on a VPI HW-19 Mk IV with SAMA and SDS, a Graham 2.2 arm, and a Shelter 501 II cartridge. You will generally find my vinyl to be in very good shape. The condition of the cover does not matter as much to me, since I can't listen to it, so those can sometimes be in a bit rougher condition.

Shipping Info

The record will ship in an LP mailer. Shipping is a flat $4.00 in the continental US for USPS media mail; shipping will be discounted for multiple items. Records will normally ship the next business day after I receive payment. How long they take to get to you is not under my control; please note that media mail can take up to ten days.

International Bidders: I am happy to ship internationally. The shipping cost shown below is almost certainly too high, as EBay listing don't allow for precise enough weights to be entered. The cost to you will be the actual shipping cost. Due to the weight of this set, it can only be shipped Priority Mail International (or Express Mail), which includes some insurance and is trackable "to major destinations", whatever that means. Please wait for an invoice before paying, so I can give you the precise cost.

Grading

I do not really like the "Goldmine Standard", as my experience is that different people have very different ideas about what the different grades mean. (I also think "VG" should mean "very good", rather than "mostly acceptable".) I would prefer to describe the item in detail, as I have above. But Goldmine-type grades do help people get a quick idea of the condition of records, so I offer them. Still, it is the verbal description you should trust here.

That said, here is how I understand the grades I use.

• NM On cursory inspection, an NM item will look as new. Indeed, it should be the sort of thing you could take out of the shrink and actually think was new; new records do have flaws, as we all know. But close inspection will reveal only the smallest of flaws. The vinyl may have some very small paper scuffs, but no scratches of any kind; the cover may similarly show some signs of not actually being new, such as the tiniest of marks due to being handled, but should not have any bends, dings, or real wear.
• EX An EX item should look nearly new on cursory inspection, but will show minor signs of use. Close inspection of the vinyl may reveal several paper scuffs and other sorts of light marks, but nothing that will be audible; the vinyl should still have good shine.
  The cover may have minor shelf wear along the edges and may show just the very slightest hint of ringwear, but nothing will have rubbed off yet; there may be some minor marks on the face, but the seams and spine must be strong, and the overall appearance should be, well, excellent.
• VG+ A VG+ item will not look new, even to cursory inspection; it will appear to have been used, but carefully, so it will look very good indeed. The vinyl may not shine quite as it did when new, and there will be several visible marks, but there should again be no scratches or other sorts of dings that will be audible. The visual appearance would lead you to expect that the record will play with only minimal surface noise (though, as any experienced collector knows, how a record looks is not always an accurate guide to how it will sound).
  The cover may show minor wear at the seams, but no breaks; ringwear must be limited to small amounts at the top and bottom; there may be slight creases in places, or bends at the corners, but not ones that will detract from the overall appearance of the cover.
• VG A VG item will look used, but it will nonetheless look as if it were used by someone who cared about it. The vinyl will simply show signs of use—scuffs and other marks from repeated handling and playing—and there may be small scratches from the needle or a fingernail that are feelable and will likely be audible. But the overall appearance should still be "very good", and the marks and such will be the exception rather than the rule.
  The cover will similarly look good overall, but the seams may have minor splits; there may be some significant ringwear, but not a "snowy" apperance overall; there may be dings at the corners; and so on and so forth.

I do not use lower grades, and I will try to describe all flaws above.
