180g Virgin Vinyl, pressed at Pallas in Germany 

Mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray for Analogue Productions from the original master tapes in 2002-2003 for the original individual 45rpm album series pressed at RTI.  According to Steve Hoffman, multiple sets of metal parts were made from these 2002-2003 mastering sessions, and in 2007 or 2008, one or more of these sets of metal stampers were sent to the Pallas record facility in Germany to press the 45rpm LPs for this box set.

(NM) Corners are straight, there are a few light scuffs on the back, as received from Acoustic Sounds, but no wear to the sides or bottom (as the box set stands upright on the shelf).

(NM) All near mint, no seam splits, no ring-wear, no edge wear, straight corners

NOTES:

I purchased this numbered, limited edition box set in late 2008, direct from Acoustic Sounds, which also owns the Analogue Productions record label.  At that time, when the box set was newly released, there was a lot of discussion about it on the Steve Hoffman Forum.  Besides the discussion on the superb sound quality, there were also enough complaints about pressing faults on some of the records in these box sets that I decided to check mine to be sure.

It’s a good thing I checked.  There were two problems.  First, I had two copies of the first LP of Steamin’ and I was missing the 2nd LP of Steamin’.  The other problem was a deep scratch on the run-in grooves of Workin’ that continued into the beginning of "Ahmad's Blues" on record #2.

Acoustic Sounds sent me a replacement for record #2 of Workin’, and a record #2 for Steamin’, both were perfect.  So this LP box set is complete, with the peace of mind knowing it has been checked and visually inspected.  It is in near-mint and unplayed condition, as new.

With a sealed box set, you take your chances.

Double Box Packaging:  The box set will be double-boxed for added safety.  I may not use the exact boxes shown in the pictures below (I think I’ll need larger boxes, a larger inner box for sure), but the same general idea applies.  It is a heavy package, approximately 8Lbs. including everything.
