Description

~~~~I AM AN AUDIOPHILE AND A DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER, AND I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING RARE JAZZ RECORDS FOR MANY YEARS. I WILL BE LISTING A LARGE NUMBER OF RARE LPs AND 78s OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE OUTSTANDING AUDIOPHILE & RARE RELEASES~~~~
UP FOR BID HERE IS A RARE, MONO ORIGINAL FIRST-PRESSING OF THE ALL-TIME CLASSIC LP FROM 1957, MILES AHEAD, BY MILES DAVIS WITH THE GIL EVANS ORCHESTRA. THE THICK VINYL FROM THIS FIRST PRESSING SOUNDS FAR BETTER THAN LATER REPRESSINGS. THIS FIRST PRESSING COMES WITH THE RARE, WITHDRAWN ORIGINAL COVER AND ALSO INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL COLUMBIA PLASTIC INNER SLEAVE, WITH THE ORGINAL COLUMBIA LOGOS.
THE COVER AND RECORD ARE IN OUTSTANDING, PRISTINE CONDITION. THIS IS AN ARCHIVAL QUALITY COPY. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN THIS KIND OF SHAPE! I HAVE PLAY GRADED THE RECORD, AND YOU WON’T FIND ANYTHING CLOSER TO ACTUALLY BEING IN THE ROOM WITH THE MUSICIANS AT THE ORIGINAL RECORDING SESSION.
OUTSDANING LP AND COVER OF A HISTORIC RECORD. NO RESERVE ON THIS AUCTION! NOT TO BE MISSED!
ARTIST:        MILES DAVIS + 19 (ORCHESTRA UNDER DIRECTION OF GIL EVANS)
TITLE:           MILES AHEAD
LABEL:         COLUMBIA CL 1041
COVER:         NM- (The cover is pristine, incredibly well intact. Like new, but it is 55 years old! I have never seen a record this old in such outstanding condition. All the seams, sides and corners are intact and in like-new condition. The writing on the spine and sides is crisp and clear. No ring wear or discoloration at all on the front or back covers. The photo on the front looks like it was just printed. Just a tiny bit of wear around the opening to the sleeve and a very small crease at the top right corner that is minimal. Overall, I would give this one a 9.5 out of 10. Exceptional!
VINYL:          VG++ (The vinyl is shiny and mostly pristine, with hardly any even light, surface-level scuffs that should be inaudible. Nothing that can be felt. Overall, the record looks and sounds outstanding, and the dynamic spectrum of the high-quality original pressing is far superior to the subsequent represses! Really great copy! By far the best I’ve ever seen of this record.)
NOTE:  I have carefully visually graded each record under a bright light using conservative standards. In this case, I play graded the record, though I didn’t listen to every track all the way through.
COMBINED SHIPPING AVAILABLE. $4 for the first LP or 78, and $1.50 for each additional record for domestic shipping in a very secure record mailer via USPS.
