Mighty Baby - Same
(Head1969 LPS 025) Original US Pressing.
Following the demise of The Action, one of the finest and best loved mod/ psych outfits, guitar genius Martin Stone was recruited and after being known briefly as Azoth, Mighty Baby were born. They signed with independent label Head records for their debut who licenced the LP to Chess/GRT in America. This is the original US pressing.
The lead track "Egyptian Tomb" is simply one of the finest pieces of English psychedelia ever recorded, marrying psychedelic mysticism with eastern promise and vaguely jazzy grooves. Its brilliant. The rest of the LP expands the range and grows with every listen. A stunning LP that ranks among the top 10 UK psych LPs ever issued, with ease. And it sounds beautiful on this high quality US pressing that is also in stunning condition. Getting a UK copy in this condition would now cost you over £400, so why not save yourself some cash and get this superb sounding US pressing. It also has a groovier psychedelic label where the UK press was plain yellow and black.
Condition
Sleeve: The sleeve is super thick cardboard and looks fantastic with one of Martin Sharp's most stunning creations. The colours are strong and vibrant and the sleeve shows very little wear. There is some slight scuffing on the very edges, but otherwise this is beautiful. EX.
Record: I can't see any spindle marks round the centre hole at all. The vinyl only has a few of the faintest whispy scuffs only under strong light. It plays beautifully. EX.
So overall a very nice copy that you will not need to upgrade ever.
Gradings
M- As new, no spindle marks on the label, or marks of any kind on the vinyl and no wear of any kind to the sleeve. Not a grade we use often or lightly for a 60s/70s record.
EX Maybe a few featherlight whispy marks, but no scratches or deterioration in sound. Very slight signs of aging to sleeve, but still looks fantastic.
VG+ Some light marks on the vinyl, but nothing that should cause pop or clicks. Some light occasional surface noise. Sleeve will show some general age wear, but nothing major.
VG Some heavier marks and maybe a few scratches that will cause some noise. Will still be a very enjoyable listen with no constant noise and defnitiely no skips, sticks or jumps. Sleeve will have more significant age wear but no major damage.
