This auction is for a LOT of Two Punk Rock albums with music from the late 60's and early 70's. Details are listed below:

I play test all my records as I believe (and bought records back when they were new this way) that a record is only a device to convey the sound, and a sleeve and jacket are only devices designed to protect the records, thereby protecting the integrity of the sound. The sound therefore is the ultimate goal! I know some collectors don't want to hear this, as they place as much importance on the condition of the jacket and etc. But the pictures, if done well (and I try to show anomalies in them) can and do show up most of the problems! As to my grading system, you may find it a bit comical, but I believe it's at least understandable:

S=SEALED - Since these have never been opened and played, there isn't really a way to rate them! (read on)

M=MINT - Plays without background noise (of any kind) ANYWHERE! (FM Radio station quality) Any record that sounds like this is BETTER than a lot of new ones! It absolutely HAS to be mastered well and almost never played!

T=TREASUREABLE - Plays with only minor infractions (usually between tracks or in the "dead wax"). These you copy to a cassette or CD and let your friends hear it! Proudly? Records that were rarely out of the jacket and or played and handled extremely careful can get this rating, while poorly mastered records can't!

R=RECORDABLE - Plays with some background, but not loud enough to hear through the music. You will hear somewhat between tracks or perhaps quieter passages. (Still could lend a cassette or CD made from it to a friend without embarrassment). If a record has been handled carefully even though it may be played a lot, it may still get this rating.

NOTE: I've purchased NEW records that failed to make these top three ratings!

L=LISTENABLE - Plays with some noise, but not loud enough to be irritating. Past copying though, unless item is really rare. Good for personal listening enjoyment! Note: Most used records you will find that are moderately cared for (and played a lot) come in somewhere near here. Also a record that is mastered really lousy gets this rating when NEW!

N=NOISY - Plays bad enough that you need to concentrate to mentally block out the static and etc. Not good enough to copy for almost any reason and a real embarrassment when friends come over (the one to hide)!

U=UNPLAYABLE - Skips and has so much noise that the music cannot be enjoyed by any effort on the listeners part, perhaps cannot even be heard! Good for target practice or perhaps to go out and play frisbie with the dog!

I WON'T be selling any of these last two ratings. However, I may be giving some of these turkeys away. If your package contains a "bonus" you can try it, throw it, or shoot at it. It's free.

NOTE: Because some cartridges respond differently to record anomalies, I usually play test with a Shure RXP3 and a conical stylus, and I listen personally with a Stanton 600EE elliptical stylus. The elliptical stylus picks up less surface noise, has a better frequency response, improves the signal to noise ratio by sounding louder (if you have the amp turned off and listen close, you can hear the elliptical pick up FAR easier than the conical), and "skips" less on really bad records! Since some listeners use the conical (it is cheaper) I rate my records with that. One other thing, I DON'T use "record cleaners" as I tried one once, and it dissolved the vinyl! I had to toss out 2 nearly new CCR albums! So these records are not cleaned prior to shipment! Questions? Ask!
