Michael Powers is a brilliant blues guitarist and passionate singer. For some reason, he is nowhere near as well-known as he should be. This is one of the mysteries of the music industry to me - why some “make it” and some don’t, despite towering talent.


The Onyx Root vinyl LP is extremely rare. This test pressing for the album would fall into the “insanely rare” category. It has never appeared for sale anywhere on the internet. This copy is possibly the only copy that will ever appear publicly for sale.


Cover: EX. The cover is a plain white cardboard sleeve, with only the date and catalog number typed neatly in the upper right corner, in the RTI style. The cover is clean and wear-free.

?Vinyl: I played the entire album listening through headphones. The sound is incredible - audiophile quality. It plays with no skips or sticks. There is some occasional light surface noise. The visual grade is VG+, based on the appearance of some odd smudge marks on the first track of both sides. No idea what these marks are. They may come from sitting in the poly-lined sleeve untouched for a decade or more. They do not affect play and they did not come off when the record was cleaned on my VPI cleaning machine.


I grade conservatively and will mention any flaws to the cover or vinyl.
