Description
I'm offering the Michael Jackson album "Off The Wall" released in 1979 by Epic Records. This is a test pressing by Columbia Record Productions in Santa Maria, CA. In stereo. Matrix #PAL-35745. In its original gatefold jacket and an all white sleeve. I've owned this since it came out and have never played it. This has been stored upright in my album rack in my home. I worked in the entertainment business here in Hollywood and got a lot of records for free. Sometimes duplicates. It's in mint condition. The gatefold jacket and sleeve are in mint condition.
Included are a copy of a 1979 color photo of 21-year-old Michael printed on an 8½"x11" sheet of paper (not glossy), a sheet with the song titles and writers, and a page with a synopsis of the album. These are free - NOT part of the listing price. My feeling is that it would have been thoughtful of the studios to have accompanied all album sales back in the day with these for fans to better know the musicians whom they just forked over their wages to. "Off the Wall" was the fifth solo studio album by Jackson, released on August 10, 1979. It was his first album released through Epic Records, the label he recorded under until his death in 2009, and the first produced by Quincy Jones. It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Billboard R&B Albums chart, staying at number one on the latter for 16 weeks. The album was an enormous critical success and was ranked third in the Billboard Year-End Albums of 1980. Five singles were released from the album.Jackson wrote three songs himself, including the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", which was Jackson's first solo number-one single since "Ben", seven years prior. It was a worldwide hit, reaching number one in nine other countries. The second single from the album, "Rock with You" also peaked atop the chart. With the title track and "She's Out of My Life" reaching the top 10 of the chart, Jackson became the first solo artist to have four singles from the same album peak inside the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. © Wikipedia
