Description
Rare, special edition of Michael Jackson's solo debut album. Epic records HE 45745. Released as part of the early 80's Columbia/CBS audiophile vinyl series that were special extended-range recordings. All releases in the series were classified as "Audiophile Pressings" by CBS Master Sound, mastered with TLC at Half Speed at the CBS Recordings Studios, New York. Though associated with half-speed masters the series focus is audiophile treatment, as the releases in the series are either half-speed mastered, original digital recordings (considered audiophile at the time) or direct-to-disc recordings. In terms of audio quality, this is without question the best quality pressing of "Off The Wall".
I have been the only owner of this LP since it was released in 1980. The disc is in near mint (NM) condition. The sleeve is in perfect condition, as is the insert which chronicles the half-speed mastering process in greater detail. The foldout (also referred to as gateway) album jacket has always been in plastic sleeving and as a result also has almost no wear. If I were grading, I would grade the vinyl and the jacket both "9" out of a possible "10".
