Description

This auction is for a Metropolitan Opera Historic Broadcast 3-LP record set of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera SIMON BOCCANEGRA. The opera was recorded on January 21, 1939 and featured the conducting of Ettore Panizza and a legendary cast, including Lawrence Tibbets in the title role. Other singers included Leonard Warren, Louis D’Angelo, Enzio Pinza, Elizabeth Rethberg and Giovanni Martinelli

The record sets in the Metropolitan Opera Historic Broadcast series were offered exclusively to donors to the Met, and were not issued in great numbers. The performances, often definitive versions of the operas, were carefully selected from the Met’s archives. The recordings were remastered to provide the best sound available. Each set, housed in a deluxe velvet box, included a libretto and an illustrated booklet of articles related to the opera performance or performers.

This wonderful set is in LIKE NEW condition, still SEALED in its original shrink wrap.

Please see my other offerings of operas in this series. Purchases can be combined to save on shipping.
