Metal Massacre Limited Edition Picture Disc Box Set Metallica Slayer Voivod Celtic Frost Overkill Trouble

This limited edition box was released in 1984 during a crucial period of time for the American Metal scene. Metal Blade was the premiere American Heavy Metal/Thrash label (alng with Megablade) during the 80s, and their Metal Massacre series of compilations documented the beginnings of many of the most influential Metal bands in history. For example, Metallica made their first vinyl appearance ever on Metal Massacre Volume One with thetrack "Hit The Lights"featuring the original line-up with Dave Mustaine! Othervolumesfeaturedearlyappearances by such heavyweights asSlayer, Armored Saint, Attacker, and Trauma (with apre-Metallica Cliff Burton on bass). The full track listing for these five compilations reads like a who's who of theoriginal Thrash scene. The boxed set was aultra-limited collectors item which combined the first five volumes of the Metal Massacre comps. pressed onto picture discs with the cover art on one side and the track listings on the other. The box is numbered on the back cover with the following information: "This Box Set is Number X47 (the leading # is rubbing off but I think its 047) of ALimited Edition Of 1000. At the conclusion of the pressing of this box, the parts necessary for it's manufacture were destroyed. It shall never be repressed." The box itself has wear as indicated in the pictures. It has had some moisture damage and is peeling somewhat. The records themselves are inMint condition and have always been protected with Discwasher V.I.P. Record Sleeves to protect them from the elements. There are no visible scratches on the records themselves. Other than the damage to the box, these look brand new.
