Description
Cover---One of the nicest covers I’ve seen for this rare version. Top and bottom seams are amazingly solid and sturdy. Bottom seam has a small tic in the slick. Spine is also just as solid. There are NO splits whatsoever. Front and back slicks have slight signs of aging, but really not much! There is NO dirtwear or ringwear to the front cover. Back cover has some light foxing. That’s it.
“BEATLES” is in the correct brown lettering, and the RIAA number is the correct “3.” Bottom of the left back cover DOES NOT state “Produced by George Martin,” a disclaimer that was added later. A VERY nice cover.
Inner Sleeve---The correct 1963 purple inner sleeve is present. This sleeve was changed to a solid blue at the beginning of 1964.) The bottom center seam has split about 2 ½ inches. Your original Capitol LP will ship in a generic inner sleeve, in order to not further damage your original Capitol inner sleeve during shipping.
Labels---Both labels are still bright and bold. Side 1 label has a name stamped on it at the top. Very few (if any) spindle marks are noticeable. Both labels have the correct and final blue Capitol domes. These changed to the more familiar whitish-blue domes at the beginning of 1964. Side 2 rainbow has light wear to each side.
Vinyl---This is the best stereo copy I’ve ever seen. Hate to sell it! Both sides shine brightly and boldly under normal room lighting. Under the bright bare bulb test, there are tiny and very light lines that appear. I did play-test both sides to this one, and it sounds great. The correct Scranton symbol, a machine-stamped “IAM” inside a triangle, is stamped into both sides of the trail-offs. Plates are A1/A1. THIS IS THE VERY FIRST PRESSING, RIGHT OFF THE FIRST METAL PLATES.
If you plan to bid, please read this first…
For the second time in two weeks, I’ve had a very high bid cancelled on my auctions. A third buyer who won her auction told me she was going to withhold payment for two days while she decided whether she wanted the LP. All of these LP’s were in the triple digits. Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay?
Thanks!
(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl. However, I am happy to by request. As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
