Up for auction, a rare promotional copy of "Meet The Beatles" mono version, issued by Capital Records in January, 1964. Catalog number is T-2047. In early 1964, Capital prepared a few "Meet The Beatles" LP's for promotional use by placing a green sticker on the front of the cover which states "Press Information..." and including pictures, bios and a copy of "National Record News". These were distributed in extremely small quantity and are insanely rare. For general promotional use, they issued the same "Meet The Beatles" LP without the sticker, but with a rubber stamped "FREE PROMOTIONAL ALBUM - NOT TO BE SOLD" on the back cover in red or blue ink. THIS particular LP has "PROMOTIONAL-NOT FOR SALE" rubber stamped in blue. A rarer variation?? I've had both, actually. This cover is strictly graded as VG, defects of note are: 3/4" split at the top-mouth corner, cover slick shows cracking on the spine center 1-1/14", moderate wear on all 4 corners, slight ringwear on the front and a moderate amount of wear and soiling (dirt) to the white back. The record is strictly graded as VG+, defects of note are: slight to moderate amount of spindle trails and fingerprints on both labels, a minimal amount of sleeve scuffs and the record retains most of its original luster! (Incidentally, this is a 2nd pressing record with one BMI credit and all the rest ASCAP.) The original, correct blue inner sleeve is included, VG+ with a split on the bottom-center and on one side. The original copy of "National Record News" is also included in VG++ condition, with only the usual paper age tanning. A really nice example of this extremely rare promotional version LP from 1964!
