Original label in yellow with 2 tones of orange, black text, deep groove, stereo. Side A, "We Insist: Freedom Now Suite", composed by Roach and Oscar Brown Jr.. 3 tracks includes Abbey Lincoln, vocal,Coleman Hawkins (on 1 track), tenor sax; Walter Benton,tenor sax; Booker Little, trumpet; Julian Priester, trombone; James Schenck, bass; Roach,drums. On Track 3, Side 1 only Max Roach, drums and Abbey Lincoln vocals are included. Side 2, 2 tracks includes Lincoln, vocal; Benton, tenor sax; Little, trumpet; Priester, trombone; Schenck, bass; Roach, drums; Michael Olatunji, conga, chants; Raymond Mantillo, Tomas di Vall,percussion. Recorded in NYC in 1960. Supervised by Nat Hentoff.
Cover: Good(+) Scotch tape applied to the entire spine edge. Minor creases on the insert edge top and bottom corners. Light overall aging. Moderately heavy cardboard jacket.
Record: Mint(-) Visually shows no wear,. No markings n the vinyl surface. Possibly played only a very few times with care. Side A,Track 3, 1 faint click, barely audible, at the beginning of the Track followed by 1 equally faint click. 2 or 3 additional extremely light clicks , barely audible, in 2 places. No other surface noise. Fine, collectable condition.
