Description

Please, allow me to introduce myself quoting another old rock cliché: maybe I am too young on ebay but too old into this triptych of buy, sell and trade records as I’ve not only been a dedicated follower of collecting but a co-owner of second hand record shops, an A&R executive at record companies, a chief editor in music magazines, a radio dj etc for the last 30 years in Greece! So, a hell of a lot of rare and collectable items such as out-of-print original records, first pressings, special editions, promo samples, white labels, test pressings, magazines, posters, catalogues, memorabilia and other fetish objects of desire in 5, 7, 10 and 12 inches not only from Greece but from all over the world are going to be exhibited through these pages … Turn on and stay tuned!

So, this is a fine copy of the, arranged and produced by Vangelis Papathanassiou, ultra rare original and very limited vinyl edition of Mariangela's debut album that the greek department of Philips released with Cat No. 6331 084 and Matrix No AA 6331 084 1Y1 @ 1975 670121.03 [A side] and AA 6331 084 2Y2 @ 1975 670121.03 [B side].Back in 1975, Vangelis completed a project with this young teenage girl. The result is this self-titled lp, so named after the singer, Mariangela Papakonstantinou! She really does have a sweet singing voice, and you haven't lived until you heard her singing "Little Girl It's Time To Be A Woman" set to Vangelis music! Actually, some of these tracks are very mature, such as "This Is My World" and "Alone with the Day". Also, here is some speculation that there is yet another Vangelis pseudonym used on this album, as several of the songs are written by one "Denny Beckermann". However, we know that this is not fact. It is also specualted that Marinagela sings backup on the Socrates track "A Day In Heaven", which we now know is fact. Fellow Greek composer Stamatis Spanoudakis wrote the track "Let Me Find A Pathway".From the back cover of the Greek LP comes these notes (translated from the original Greek):"Born in Milano from a tenor father and soprano mother, Mariangela grew up with music. At the age of 11, she plays and sings with her guitar! At 13 she begins to write music and two years ago she comes to Greece to give her first hits, while at the same time she takes part of international festivals. The record you are holding is the result of an ideal collaboration that Mariangela had with the famous Greek musician (as producer), Vangelis Papathanassiou. The leader of "Aphrodite's Child", producer of the record, collected songs of several composers and together with four that Mariangela wrote, he knocks the door of your heart on her behalf. [Thanks to vangeliscollector.com site] Deleted upon release this must have item for every devoted fan of the keyboard wizard  that Vangelis Papathanassiou is, does not get offered up too often. So, do not miss …
