Major Sound Effect Records 78 RPM from old radio sta.

Here is a large set of about 100 78 RPM sound effects records.  Copyright date 1947.  Most are on the Major record label, with about 10 on the Standard Sound Effect label. 

Contents include:  Background moods (i.e. suspense, mystery, romantic, etc) Cannons, Machines, Cars, Trains, Airplanes, Wars, Battles, Machine Guns, Bombers, Explosions, Bowling Alleys, Fanfares and Jingles, Printing presses, Factories, Carnivals, Cultural Themes, Animals (i.e. elephants, monkeys, cows, lions, tigers, dogs, etc)....... you name it!  


"Impress your friends!!  Play them in the background when skyping or chatting on your telephone..... Great for plausible  excuses!  Intimidating unwelcome guests!  Scare away the undesirables!"


These are a mix of shellac and vinyl.  The Major labels are also not consistent.  I suspect they contracted the pressing out to different pressing plants.  The index pamphlet is included and from what I can tell on a quick look it's almost a complete set. 

These records came from an old inventory from a defunct Southern California radio station, KPAS.  

The shipping box is 11x17x11.  They'll be packed well with a box inside a box.  The box weighs about 38 lbs. 

I can ship USPS Priority, Parcel Post or Media Mail or UPS.

Most of these records are in E condition, with a few in G condition.

Condition Grading:

I try to keep condition grading as simple as possible. Opinions on the matter tend to be subjective, so the simpler, the better.  Grading is visual.   Records usually sound as good or as bad as they look, but if there's an exception to that, then see the item description.  Sealed records are what they are.  If they've been warped over decades of storage, then so be it. 

"Excellent" doesn't mean "perfect". An unplayed 78 can still have substantial surface noise, but it's still "excellent". It's as good as it's going to get.

E = Excellent:  Extraordinarily good condition for it's age.

G = Good:  A low mileage record with some surface noise, light wear, groove stress.

F = Fair:  A high mileage record with moderate scratches, scuffs, groove stress and surface noise.

L = Lousy:  Extensive wear or damage. OK for jukebox, drink coaster or target practice.  Probably impossible to digitally clean up.  It will still play.  I don't sell records that are unplayable.
