Lovely copy of a very scarce one one the fiercely collected Blue Horizon label. All Blue Horizon albums are highly sought after these days and copies in this sort of condition just don’t appear any more. Musically it’s fine electric blues with more soulful than usual vocals and excellent guitar recorded for the Cobra label in the late fifties.
Condition:
Sleeve: As good a copy as I’ve ever seen. It’s a fairly thick card single sleeve laminated on the front only. I’ve had a few copies of this over the years but none that even approach this for condition, you’ll wait a long long time before you see a better one.
The front is pretty much perfect. There are no tears of any kind and no writing, there is one small crease coming in from the spine about halfway down. The lamination still has a bright shiny look and just looks as pretty anything..
The rear is also perfect, no writing, no tears and no creases and rather unusually for this one no ringwear either.
The top seam is totally unworn.
The bottom seam is also totally unworn.
The spine is wide, square and clean, totally unworn with all of the writing clearly readable.
Both labels are perfect, very clean with no writing, tears or stickers and no visible spindle wear.
Record: The disc is also virtually perfect. I rarely grade anything as mint especially anything this old but really this as close as you can get. It’s extremely clean and the disc has retained that lovely dark shine that only rarely played records have. Visually there are no marks visible under normal light and even under a harsh lamp there are no marks at all.
When I first tried to play this I actually had problems getting it on to the turntable because the spindle hole was so tight, I had to push it down firmly so that it sat on the deck properly, always a sign of a very lightly used record. The sound is clear and clean across the full dynamic range and totally deviod of any distortion of any kind. There is no surface noise of any kind for the full length of the album and as with the sleeve it will be a long long time before a better copy comes your way (and even then I can’t believe that any copy will be significantly better than this one).
