In 1968 Muddy Waters was forced - pretty much at gunpoint, it seems - to record a heavy, electric, psychedelic album, titled – oh, how appropriately - Electric Mud (it appears this was Marshall Chess` brilliant idea). On it, Muddy sings like he`s had one joint too many: the album is thoroughly, um…disjointed. Nonetheless, the time has been much gentler to this recording and its reputation than most critics and professional know-it-alls. The personnel is believed to be the same as on Muddy’s next album (After the Rain): Muddy Waters - Lead Guitar ; Phil Upchurch - Guitar - Morris Jennings - Drums ; Otis Spann - piano ; Louis Satterfield - Bass ; Pete Cosey - Guitar ; Charles Stepney - Organ ; Peter Oscher - Harmonica.

THIS IS A NO-RESERVE AUCTION!

·       CONDITION:

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            WE GRADE SIDE 2 OF THE RECORD AS STRONG VERY GOOD+ . CAUTION: The vinyl on this side is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)

(b)            THE VINYL ON SIDE 1 OF THE RECORD IS IN DECENT, VERY GOOD (VG) CONDITION, WITH ONE VISIBLE SURFACE ABRASION WHICH EXTENDS ACROSS TWO TRACKS .

(c)             The album comes with the original insert / booklet still intact.

(d)            The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(e)             The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(f)              The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(g)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(h)           Mono copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4.

-         Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease) in one of the corners.

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine

-         The gatefold cover has partially split seams on 1 out of 4 "legs" of the cover (about 3 inches / 1 inch = 2.5 centimeters).

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No cut-out (drill) holes.

-         No cut-out corners

-         No saw-marks or indents

-         No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-         No yellowing from aging

-         No writing

-         No stamps

-         No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-         No peel-off marks

-         No stains

-         No mold or mildew spots

-         No water damage

-         No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.

-         No warping

-         No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
