R&b and soul tab-keepers, don't cross this one off! Liverpool riser MT Jones lands here with 'Joy' on EMDM, a debut foray putting his voice right up front, and backed by clean, modern r&b production with a touch of classic soul running underneath. Not much audio out ahead of release, but early signs point to a tracklist built with intent, moving through love, loss and self-repair without overplaying the drama; Jones takes his cues from 60s and 70s soul in particular, but the sound in 'Why I Cry', 'Gentle Reminder' et al. is modern, hampered in with a bit of contrast, slower cuts sitting alongside brighter moments rather than one-note mood.
