Description

Mosaic MQ9-191: The Complete Columbia Recordings Of Miles Davis with John Coltrane. This NINE LP set collected together all the recordings made by this famous pairing for this major label. Coltrane first joined the Mies Davis Quintet in 1955 and stayed with the trumpeter when the addition of CANNONBALL ADDRERLEY to the group made it a sextet. The dates here cover the period1955-61 and include a couple of guest performances by Coltrane in that final year after he had been replaced in the band by HANK MOBLEY, also present on a few tracks. In order to make this set even more attractive, Mosaic unearthed a number of previously unissued takes. Also contained in the box is the usual high quality booklet including a full discography and high-resolution photographs. The condition of the discs and the box itself is "as new" (N-).
