MOSAIC MQ7-180: The Pacific Jazz Bud Shank Studio Sessions. Here is your chance to buy this deleted 7 LP box set containing all the music recorded by this modern jazz saxophone player at seven sessions made for this well-known west coast label 1956-61. The first four dates from the 1956-58 period feature Shank's Quartet with pianist, CLAUDE WILLIAMSON.  The rare album, originally recorded and issued only in South Africa, is included. There is also a later date by the Quartet with guitarist, BILLY BEAN, instead of a pianist and two by a 1961 version of his Quintet featuring trumpeter, CARMELL JONES, and guitarist, DENNIS BUDIMIR. On the second of these, tenor saxophonist, BOB COOPER, guests with the group. Although there are no previously unissued performances, Mosaic has managed to include several titles formerly only available on scarce compilation albums issued by the CROWN and PLAYBOY labels. The sturdy presentation box also includes a beautifully produced booklet containing stunning photographs, detailed notes on the sessions as well as a full discography. The condition of both the discs and the box is 'as new', apart from some very slight damage to the top left hand corner of the box.
