Morrissey's 14th album sees him keep US producer Joe Chiccarelli, who has produced every Morrissey album since 2014's World Peace Is None Of Your Business, at the controls. It was recorded at Studio La Fabrique, Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France - the studio is based in a beautiful early 19th Century mansion and the grandeur and luxuriousness of the surroundings comes across in the high fidelity mix. New keyboard player Camila Grey stars in this offering flourishes of weird sound that provide the glue in the mix but it never feels too cluttered. The bass playing by Colombian Juan Galeano is outstanding, able to stretch and shake the subwoofer and vocally Morrissey plays to his strengths with his wit, theatricality in fine shape. A decadent rock odyssey awaits.
