MORNING 1970 1st UK PRESS A1/B1 MEGA RARE PSYCH LP

Label:- . LIBERTY   Catalogue:- . LBS 83463   Details:- . Very rare 1970 1st UK pressing, matrix A1/B1. Comes in the original textured sleeve. A very rare and overlooked mellow dreamy psych LP that is highly rated by the few who know of it.

Morning were a Los Angeles based six-piece featuring Jim Kehn (drums-guitar-vocals), Terry Johnson (guitar), Bruce Wallace (string bass-bass), Jim Hobson (piano-organ-vocals), Barry Brown (guitar-drums-vocals), and Jay Lewis (guitars-banjo-vocals). Jay Lewis, under the name Jay Donnellan had been in Arthur Lee’s later incarnation of LOVE, as was Jim Hobson.

Top-notch harmony singing, clever songwriting, creative instrumentation, unexpected twists and turns, and bits stolen from the masters combine to make every song a winner. Morning’s just-plain-mellow side takes center stage with the the lovely piano work on “Angelena.” Their mellow-but-rocking side peaks with the Crosby, Stills, And Nash-style “doo doo doo” chorus on “Tell Me A Story” and the stunning build-up on “Early Morning.” The album’s finest moments, however, are when their really-wasted-mellow side arises on “Sleepy Eyes” and “And I’m Gone.” The former’s slow fuzzed-out rise-and-fall guitar and the latter’s overpowering organ flashes take the listener straight into dreamland. This album is so great that even the (mercifully short at about 40 seconds) drum solo can’t spoil it. Obviously this is a case where a band had a vision and we’re all rewarded because they were allowed to see it through. http://redtelephone66.blogspot.com/2008/04/morning-1970-vault-lp.html

Vinyl Condition:- . Visually very near EX, test plays as an EX. Very clean shiny vinyl with one or two light hairlines that do not effect play. Overall nice crisp sound quality, one or two mild pops on side one in a couple of places, very brief and nothing major.

The record has been vacuum machine cleaned and fully test played through Spendor (BBC) LS3/5A mini-monitors   Sleeve Condition:- . VG (Note that this is a delicate textured sleeve so the condition of this one is muck like others I have seen. Wear on the top and bottom edges. Spine is worn with no text left. Some creasing on the front and back and around the area of the record rim.)   This record seldom comes up for sale . Don't miss your chance.

I always reduce postage on multiple items. Check out my other rare vinyls!

GRADING ABBREV DESCRIPTION MINT M The record is as new. The cover and any inserts should be in perfect condition.
Many Dealers do not use this classification as A record is unlikely to arrive through the post in truly mint condition. EXCELLENT
PLUS
EX+ The record is near-mint, there is no damage or visible surface marking. Under Bright Light you may see fine lines on the record, caused by rubbing on the paper sleeve. Reserve this grade for records where you have difficulty spotting anything wrong.
The Cover and inserts are undamaged. EXCELLENT EX The record may show some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks or fingerprints but there is no appreciable lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. EXCELLENT
MINUS
EX- There may be fairly visible surface markings under bright light but the sound quality of the record is not adversely affected.
The Cover and inserts may have noticeable light creasing or "foxing" due to dampness but they are all present and intact. VERY GOOD VG The record has obviously been played a lot, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite surface marks and some light scratches. Also Use this grading where the record has suffered perhaps one more visible scratch, but is otherwise in EX or better condition.
The cover may be creased a little and/or frayed at the opening. You should itemize any more serious damage such as tears.
