Description
MOONDOG & HIS FRIENDS" released on EPIC RECORDS (LG 1002) in 1954 is a 10" EP/LP 1st Pressing with beautiful NM+ labels (Scan 3). It was Moondog's earliest officially released album and is very rare in this condition.
The RECORD is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition in appearance and appears to have been played rarely judging by the small number of spindle marks on each label, with approximately a Dozen light sleeve and handling marks on each Side. On play grade, Side 1 is VG+ which starts in with some light static and ticks on the opening 2 songs, after which there is an occasional light tick or static, and plays closer to NM. Side 2 plays closer to NM throughout after the first 15-20 seconds of the first song which has some static/light ticks. Being a 50s "deep -groove" pressing, the record plays loud and clear, regardless of the interference described above.
The COVER is in VERY GOOD - VERY GOOD PLUS condition, with the top seam completely split, but the remaining title and bottom seams fully intact except for some light crinkling at the top of the title. Near that left hand upper corner are some wrinkles, primarily on the back cardboard with the front laminate showing just one partial wrinkle. The corners are generally sharp with each showing "roundness". The laminate front is really quite clean, with no other defects to the laminate. The cardboard back shows yellowing/browning from age, but other than the above wrinkle and aging shows light wear, with a small stain spot near the bottom. (Scan 2).
