Formed in Red Bank, New Jersey in 1989 as the brainchild of songwriter and sole original member Dave Wyndorf, Monster Magnet are one of the defining pioneers of the psychedelic stoner rock genre, etched in oblivion alongside peers such as Kyuss, Fu Manchu, and Sleep. Admittedly attempting to court more mainstream recognition than some of their fellow stoners, the band would have a tumultuous relationship with commercial success throughout their career, achieving some airplay with 1998's fourth full-length and most well-known record Powertrip. This aptly titled boxset skips the the 1991 debut LP Spine Of God, and collates their next four-album run starting with 1993's Superjudge, 1995's Dopes To Infinity, the aforementioned Powertrip from '98 and 2000's God Say No. with all records remastered on 2xLP for a mammoth total of 8 slabs of grooving, hazy, heaving, stoner doom wax, all housed in a lush slipcase.
