MONGO SANTAMARIA BAND Watermelon Man 45 rpm Vinyl Riverside 1069098 RIF 1963
Launched on a shoestring budget in 1953 by traditional jazz enthusiasts Bill Grauer and Orrin Keepnews in order to reissue classic jazz and blues recordings from the 1920s by King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ma Rainey and others. Riverside Records turned out to be one of the premier purveyors of modern jazz. With Keepnews producing the sessions (and writing the liner notes), Riverside soon brought such giants as Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderley and Wes Montgomery to the forefront of American music.
I have graded the vinyl Very Good Plus, it plays well without any interruption to enjoyable listening. Under a bright spotlight there are many light surface play marks consistent with a record over time being brought in and out of its sleeve but the overall quality of the vinyl and its sound isn't compromised by this.
There is a new inner sleeve with a soft lining to protect, as well as a thicker plastic outer cover. I have also created a photographic frontispiece for easy identification when housed in a collection but I must make it clear that THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL COVER.

POSTAGE : I prefer to use UPS via eBay, which is a really speedy service, usually arriving overseas within 2-4 days, whereas Royal Mail can take many weeks to arrive. I have a flat rate of £20 which is what it costs to deliver to US and other parts of the World although Europe is around £15. There is only provision for one flat rate and so it is fixed at £20. If you live in Europe please mail me and I will adjust the postage before you buy. In some instances the postage costs more than £20, to further parts of the World and we may need to similarly adjust this, although often I am prepared to pay the difference provided the record isn’t very low value.
