Here's a 1968 OG GERMAN PRESSING of MOBY GRAPE'S double LP - WOW on the CBS LABEL. CAT#S66209. For a very short time Moby Grape was incredible. They were part of the Bay Area psychedelic scene at the outset, and played a lot of shows alongside many of the others in the scene at the time. They were a 3 guitar band, which at the time was not the usual at all, and also all the members wrote songs and sang. They were enjoying plenty of chemical amusement aid too, and it would come back to bite them.. Their first LP was a great effort. It sold pretty well, and everyone including the record company was excited for more. Ongoing contractual disputes with their former manager was a big thorn in their side at the time. After this LP, Skip Spence was hospitalized for mental issues related to his LSD use, and the rest of the band released 1 more LP-- Moby Grape '69.
This copy is fantastic. Unusual to find as a German pressing. The audio quality on the German Press sounds great. The laminated cover is beautiful, but has corner rubbing as well as loss of the cover paper along the spine side from wear... Those issues are mostly off to the side, and the cover does present itself very well. The back cover and inside gatefold are in great shape. And the inside gatefold has an added paper insert. The Vinyl plays perfectly, The labels are beautiful. It's a wonderful double LP
