MMS 2041-2053 Beethoven Complete String Quartets (plus the three Piano Quartets Op. 153 with Artur Balsam, Piano) Pascal String Quartet
Label: French Green/Silver, Gruve-Gard
Box: Excellent (but, alas, a mouse has nibbled at the bottom right hand corner of the spine of the box!)
Condition: Near Mint +/Near Mint/Near Mint-
Absolutely lovely, warmly and charmingly intimate view of the Beethoven Quartets - an antidote to the more highly charged approaches of, say, the Vegh Quartet or the Julliards, but more spontaneous and less perfumed than the Italians - certainly a set to explore. The ones I have had a chance to sample have been very fine. A bit of suspect intonation at the beginning of the first Rasumovsky apart...
