Hotly sought after = Original 1971 PRE-first pressing of the 2nd RODRIGUEZ album that's been all the rage ... a unique voice, songwriter and mysterious journey unfolds....

With the hopes of becoming the next bright thing, Rodriguez packed his bags and flew non-stop from Detroit to London, England to work on his second lp: COMING FROM REALITY. This time he was surrounded by producer Steve Rowland and a pack of British studio players including the great Chris Spedding ( ex-Battered Ornaments) on guitar. It didn't whitewash his music any. He continued to sound like a psychedelic south of the boarder hipster with pain & suffering songs of reality in hand. SANREVAN LULLABY is a full blown atmospheric track and may be the lp's spotlight moment. Sounds like the story of a depressed and suicidal boxer. Elsewhere are HEIKKI'S SUBURBAN BUS TOUR, a full blown fuzz guitar rocker and A MOST DISGUSTING SONG, basically a spoken word tune about freaks and weirdos who live in Rodriguez' neighborhood. These are the folks Mr.Rogers never talked about.

For those who haven’t previously heard of Rodriguez. he lived in Detroit and he did blue collar works for a living but he was also mad about music. He wrote his own lyrics, poems full of heart and meaning, and he made them songs accompanied by his guitar and his voice. A voice that is at once neutral while at the same time that seems strange and powerfully unique. When he signed with Sussex Records in 1967, most believed it was just a matter of time before his unique sound took off. He would record two albums with Sussex and A&R Records, ‘Cold fact’ (1970) and ‘Coming from reality’ (1971), but Rodriguez never saw his promised success before he vanished, accompanied by a host of rumours. However, there was another place in the world were his music did not go unnoticed. It is unclear how Rodriguez arrived to South Africa but what is obvious is the impact that he reached there. His albums went all round the country and they were played everywhere. His songs became an anthem during the Apartheid and he became a rebel and an anti-establishment symbol. However, there was very little information to find out who was behind that voice… Then is when the real search starts…

This is all packaged in a die-cut gatefold cover featuring Rodriguez sitting on the porch of an abandoned house with broken glass and a child's right shoe. Was there a tragedy here?!?! Look through the songs to find the clues!
