Scarce old exact gatefold cover 2ndpress of the classic COSMIC spacerock journey recorded back in 1972. Hailed as one of the greatest 'Krautrock' albums...it's hard to argue that ...

MYTHOS emerged from the Berlin underground scene in 1969. Less known than others german bands and artists as AMON DUUL, Klaus SCHULZE... they also signed their debut effort for the legendary ohr label. Their first two albums "Mythos" and "Dreamlab" represent Krautrock at its finest. The general mood of the band during that period was orientated to free space/psychedelic music with a lot of electric organs and keyboard parts. Their self title album includes acoustic and oriental elements as flute, sitar... which add a mystical flavor to the music.

"Mythoett" is a pastoral flute led song. Light drums and bass help out. It's only just an intro for headier things to come...the tempo of Mythoette picks up early. It calms back down 2 minutes in before the tempo picks back up again....then the fun begun; "Oriental Journey" is very eastern sounding with percussion to open and dirty distortion guitar joining in quickly to add the tone of the 'sound' ...distant sounding vocals are joined by webs of cosmic sitar and the album is in full bloom ...Oriental Journey suddenly loses consciousness and becomes very spacy with trippy atmosphere (the drugs kick in)...the passages flow into whirling flute the ebb and flow into the sitar cosmique and distant voice...the long track ends on a high note, whatta sounds, whatta track...."Hero's Death" opens with spacey sounds that build. Guitar and bass take over with drums in tow + trippy vocals and soon the song gets dark and heavy -- fans of early BLACK SABBATH might like this section ...pretty amazing sound, this one. Psych fans should love the psychedelic guitar and then the back washes of flowing mellotron. Adventurous psychedelic guitar soon takes over and rounds out another awesome tune... "Encyclopedia Terra Part 1" opens with the sounds of seagulls ...with atmospheric and spacy soundscape the track builds with intense guitar before suddenly dropping out for the upfront focus of experimental sounds that come and go. The sound effects of a battle in the air between fighter jets, a war is going on..... "Encyclopedia Terra Part 2" opens with birds chirping as a bell is sounding over and over. The organ is solemn as drums then bass join in as the sound builds with acidy guitar, excellent drumming in a grand backwash of mellotron before the melody changes and a story is told with spoken words. It's a story about a man who invents a machine that allows him to sleep in it indefinitely until the machine wakes him up. His reason for doing this is the hope of coming back to a world with no violence and war. After the machine wakes him up the first time (after a hundred years) all has changed except that men are still at war with one another. So he goes back to sleep and returns after a hundred years again. This goes on 32 more times until when he returns from sleep that final time all life on earth is ended. Man has destroyed himself and all life. He then realizes that only death can bring him to the place he is looking for....pretty heavy stuff from the cosmic minds at play in Germany 1972.

CONDITION: The fragile gatefold cover is clean no problem other than the very lower right corner where it appears a rodent started to nibble (just started, mind you)...look at the photo it's minor ...otherwise looks top level
