Description

CHARLES MINGUS Pithecanthropus Erectus LP ATLANTIC 1237 ORIG BLACK LABEL DG MONO, EXC+

Title:  Pithecanthropus Erectus

Label:  Atlantic (1237, Mono, DG, black label)

Cover: MINT-. SMALL SCUFFS IN FOUR CORNERS AND A BIT OF COVER COLOR LOST IN THE VERY LOWER RIGHT CORNER. REAR IS ALMOST LIKE NEW, EXCEPT FOR MUCILAGE ON UPPER RIGHT FROM A PRICE TAG. THERE IS ALSO A RED “A28” STAMP AFTER “CHARLES MINGUS” ON THE LOWER RIGHT REAR.

VINYL: Excellent+. No real major scratches or problems. Marks will cause some pops and ticks. But this is a very clean looking LP. It should play almost close to perfect with really good cleaning before you play it.

SIDE 1: “Pithecanthropus” Band 1 has about 12-16 small grease or spit marks in several places. There are no scratches and no spindle marks.

Side 2: “Profile of Jackie” Band 1 has a scratch of about 1 ½ inches that goes into band 2. This is extremely light and probably doesn’t sound. Band 2 has two very light and very small, closeby hairline scratches and a series of 12 or more spit marks and fingerprint grease marks. There are no spindle marks.

Features Jackie Mclean, Mal Waldron, JR Monterose.  This is an AMAZING copy of this record.  Stunning clean condition.  This probably has been played only a handful of times, once on my table to test it, and it sounds BEAUTIFUL!  The jacket is in BEAUTIFUL shape, with sharp corners and brilliant white back.
